My Internship Experience at Homey Penang: A Journey of Growth, Health & Learning

Over the past few months, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at Homey Food Marketing Sdn. Bhd.  Penang, a healthy meal delivery company that provides nutritious, balanced, and delicious meals to the community. As someone who is passionate about health and wellness, this internship was more than just a work experience—it was a journey of personal and professional growth.

Why I Chose Homey Penang

When I first came across Homey, I was drawn to their mission: making healthy eating more accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable. As a nutrition student, I wanted hands-on experience with a company that aligns with my values. Homey Food Marketing Sdn. Bhd. Penang stood out not only for its product offerings but also for its commitment to promoting community health through food.

What I Did During My Internship

During my internship at Homey, I was involved in a variety of tasks that helped me grow in different areas:

  • Menu Planning & Nutritional Review: I assisted in evaluating the nutritional content of kindergarten’s meals and helped review menu plans to ensure they met dietary standards.

  • Food Plating & Presentation: I helped plate meals to look more attractive and beautiful before delivery. This taught me how important presentation is when it comes to encouraging people to eat healthier.

  • InBody Test Support: I assisted participants in conducting body composition tests and learned how to interpret the results to provide personalized insights.

  • Telemarketing & Client Outreach: I also participated in calls with corporate companies to introduce Homey’s corporate wellness services.

  • Content Creation: I was involved in brainstorming and editing social media videos and TikTok reels related to healthy eating and Homey’s product promotions.

  • Mini Project: I conducted nutrition counseling with the individuals who visited our booth at the PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena which was a charity event organised by the One Hope Charity & Welfare.

What I Have Learned

This internship taught me much more than I expected:

  • Real-life application of nutrition knowledge in a business setting.

  • How to communicate health concepts to the public effectively.

  • Practical soft skills like teamwork, time management, and customer communication.

  • The behind-the-scenes operations of a health-based food delivery business.

My Biggest Takeaways

One of the most valuable lessons I learned is that healthy food can be both delicious and beautiful. I also realized how important it is to understand consumers’ health conditions and preferences when promoting nutritious meals.

Another takeaway was the importance of collaboration—whether working with colleagues, chef, or wellness coaches, everyone plays a vital role in achieving a shared goal.

Thank You, Homey!

I’m truly grateful to the Homey team for their guidance, patience, and for treating me as a real member of the team. The supportive environment made my internship so enjoyable, and I walked away with meaningful experiences I will carry with me into my future career.
